This is the official and casual repository for all of The Parody Mass.
A Parody Mass may be an exploration of work(rites) , ownership(rights) and dissociation.
Inspired by the Gaelic waulking songs, or orain luaidh, traditionally sung by women during the communal waulking of wool, this streamed collection examines the interconnected themes of work, ownership, and dissociation, reflecting on how these concepts shape our understanding of labor and identity.
A Parody Mass can be a live audio-visual series
The livestream hopes to simulate the ritual of work, it’s process and it’s dependency on the past: the other’s work.
Through the use of repetition in both visual and auditory elements, the artworks evoke the rhythmic essence of waulking, illustrating how song and labor intertwine to sustain the process and the community.
